"If there is high humidity at those altitudes, the magnitude of these contrails can be amplified."īoyer told The London Economic there was high relative humidity that day, which, combined with the sunrise "gave this contrail a nice deep color as the contrail created its own shadow." "These wide-body aircraft have big engines, and the volume of exhaust from these engines can be copious," Adjekum said. The angle of the video, weather conditions and type of aircraft made the contrails appear particularly large, Adjekum said. He filmed the plane as it passed about 1,000 feet below his own aircraft.īoyer confirmed to USA TODAY the video seen in the Facebook post is the one he recorded. Boyer and Adjekum both identified the plane in the video as a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The contrail in this post captured the attention of The Weather Channel, National Geographic and The London Economic after pilot Lou Boyer uploaded it to YouTube on June 19, 2017.īoyer was flying a Boeing 747 from Tokyo to Alaska when he saw the Dreamliner's contrail over eastern Russia, according to The London Economic. This theory has been repeatedly debunked.įact check: No, airplane contrails are not being used to combat climate change They have been the subject of the "chemtrails" conspiracy theory, which alleges that nefarious actors are spraying chemicals on the population to make people sick or elicit mind control. Video shows a large contrail from Boeing planeĬontrails, or condensation trails, are formed when extremely hot exhaust from jet engines is released at high altitudes, Kwasi Adjekum, an aviation professor at the University of North Dakota, said in an email to USA TODAY. In the right plane and weather conditions, it is possible for large contrails like the one in the video to form, experts told USA TODAY. The video shows a contrail from a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Most apps force you into copying your files to their database or are too limited in their feature set or focus on features I don't need. I am testing some other methods with Sugarsync, still I think this should be a little more straightforward, but nothing else I've tested even does this so I am happy.īottom line is It does a what it does better than anything I've tested and I have tested a bunch of apps such as Usher, Leap, Reinforced Together, (and many others I cant remember now) for this task. I found a way to share the library so I can use it on multiple computers since I store videos on a portable drive and shuffle them between my desktop and laptop. Still if you expand the size of the thumbnails you can usually work it out. I'd like to see the name of videos word wrapped in the thumbnail view. This works great just to organize tutorials and I would like to be able to organize these into folders. It has a really cool web page feature where it creates a web page interface for videos of your choice. This is a request but not really necessary since it works well using vlc since you have a log of what you watched. The integrated player is good but I use VLC to play videos since I can increase the speed in VLC. It allows ratings but I'd love to Color videos as well. I have a few minor feature requests for the app and I hope it is in active development: It keeps your files in the original Location if desired, has flexible sorting options, allows you to change the video thumbnails easily (either by the frame or by drag and drop), gives you 3 great view options, video thumbnail view is saved per playlist, allows folders for Playlists, tracks your play count and the location you left off, great search function This is a robust professional application meant to manage a huge amount of videos in a variety of formats. I use it for managing my library of tutorials and find it to be extremely well suited for this task. For videos, iVideo is by far the best I've tested. I wanted a single app to manage my educational and tutorial Videos, PDF manuals, etc but opted for an app that handles each well.
